Campamento 2019

My team and I returned from camp Friday afternoon. We spent the majority of the last two weeks at camp and together learned a lot. It was an incredible time of loving on youth and serving in camp ministry.

Both weeks we went to a place called Camp McConnell, but we worked with two different groups. Week one was Campamento Uno 7. We were helping Jordan Segura, one of the missionaries that works with SCORE. He had an incredible group of teens. They participated in the lessons, asked good questions and were willing to help out whenever needed. My team was able to build amazing relationships with the students. I am so proud of them for getting out of their comfort zones by participating in games, sharing their stories, and even leading devotionals. They loved on students well and that was made so evident when it came time to say some difficult goodbyes.

Week two we worked with Salvador, the leader of our ministry group in Los Guido. We had around 16 students come to camp from Los Guido. Six of those are part of the leadership team. They helped run the sound equipment. led worship, were cabin leaders and were in charge of maintenance. I am incredibly proud of the leadership development happening in the lives of these students. However, that was not going to be very many students so, the week before camp, Salva was able to invite teenagers from an "orphanage". I say "orphanage" because the kids have actually all been legally adopted, but there are about 40 kids who all live together in the home. We had about 15 teens come for camp from there.

The theme of week two was "Walking on to Spiritual Maturity". Students were encouraged to look at their lives and assess whether or not they are living as lights and being examples to those around them. Camp included morning devotionals, afternoon Bible lessons, and evening Bible quizzing. We also had a lot of fun playing games on the field, in the pool, and on the slip n' slide. Our last night we were able to have a GLOW party with the students. They loved this and it was a lot of fun.

I was once again so proud of my team as I watched them do hard things like use their limited Spanish, be up early to help in the kitchen, participate in games, and help lead worship. The youth at camp had an incredible time. Once again, our team was able to develop amazing relationships and go deeper with our own students from Los Guido. I could not be prouder of them.

Be praying that the decisions made at camp would be real and that the convictions the students felt would lead to life transformation. Pray that these guys really would be lights and be examples in their homes, schools, and communities.

I am sure I will have more updates to come through the year, but since camp is such a special time I thought it deserved its own post.

Love has no borders,

I never would have guessed...

Dear Friends and Family, Many of you may know and some   may not so here it is... drum roll please... I am headed back to Costa Rica, and this time it is for two years! This past February, I visited Costa Rica to recruit GAP students for Lancaster Bible College. While I was there I heard about their need for a new Female Student Life Coordinator. I never anticipated this position being available at a time when I would be in a position to take it. While I was in Costa Rica with LBC I was able to speak with the directors of the program who offered me the position. After I returned home I had a lot of praying to do. I took about two weeks to pray and seek good counsel. After considering my options and seeking Godly wisdom I called the director in Costa Rica and officially accepted the position. In this position my primary responsibility will be to build relationships with and disciple the GAP students in the program. We hope to have 20-25 college age st...

Dream Job

Pc: Abby Shaw Hello everyone! It has been a little over a month since I arrived in Costa Rica to serve as the Female Student Life Director for the GAP program. In some ways being here is still surprising because I never imagined I would have the chance to come live here again. In other ways, living in Costa Rica and in the Villa feels absolutely natural; it feels like I am home. In many ways this is my dream job. Starting from 10th grade when I first traveled to Costa Rica I knew I wanted to spend my life traveling and mentoring students. I had no idea what that would look like or that I would end up in Costa Rica. Then not only am I working at GAP, but, I am also continuing to work for Lancaster Bible College as their International Admissions Counselor. God has been so generous.  Our Leadership Team GAP Students 2018-2019 Pictured above is this year's GAP class. The students have been here for three weeks. In those three weeks they have begun...
